The Greek world-champion pole vaulter Katerina Stefanidi came in first at the UCS Spirit National Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nevada, on Friday.

Stefanidi won first place at the women’s pole vault with 4.74 meters, followed by two Americans, Katie Nageotte and Lexi Jacobus who finished third.

Stefanidi and Nageotte both had unsuccessful attempts to jump at 4.86 meters.

This was the first appearance for Stefanidi for this year, ahead of the 2019 European Athletics Indoor Championships that will be held in Scotland’s Glasgow between March 1 and March 3, 2019.

Stefanidi won the gold medal at the Olympic Games of Rio in 2016 with a jump of 4.85 meters and she is the current World Outdoor, European Outdoor, European Indoor, and Diamond League champion, making her the most successful Greek female athlete.

Stefanidi lives permanently in the United States.
